Let's be Frank, the Truth is Hard to Swallow - Have a Hot Dog to Help Get it Down.

We are here because we care about you, because we want you to get the life you desire. How do you get that life you want?


While, we wish we could give you an answer, it really is not that simple. This is up for YOU to decide. Don't worry, you are not doing this alone, we are with you every step of the way.


First, let's do some self reflection.

Why is self-reflection important?  


Life can be hectic and stressful, especially when you are navigating the world on your own for the first time, while also navigating the internal battles in your mind. We are constantly being pushed to grow and to strive for greatness, but how do we get there? How do you know where you need to grow?


It's important to be honest with yourself to understand possible areas for improvement and growth. Self-reflection is a great way to learn about yourself and identify those potential growth areas. Self-reflection involves examining thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It can be hard to accept these truths you are revealing, so we have some tools for you to help them be as beneficial as possible, so the truth does not have to be so scary. 




How do you self-reflect? 


1 - Take a moment of silence and pause. Create space. Step away from distractions and be present.

2 - Then reflect. Ask yourself these questions to get in the right mindset: What am I grateful for? What areas in my life do I want to see improvement in? What do I need to ask for help with/ what am I keeping in that I should be letting out? 

3 - Then take action: Reflecting becomes powerful when it leads to action. Any of these activities can allow you to have a mindful moment for yourself and give your brain space and time to think and discover insights naturally.

  • Journal / Goal setting

  • Meditation / Practice deep breathing

  • Going for a walk / Gym

  • Take a shower

  • Listen to music or podcast


Example Self-reflection Questions:

Understanding yourself: 

  • How do I see myself? 

  • How do I want others to see me? 

  • What gives me meaning? 

  • How can I improve myself? 


Reflecting when stressed

  • What is stressing me out? 

  • How am I feeling?  

  • Why is it stressing me out?

  • How can I relieve this stress? 

  • Who can I go to to help me with this? 


Daily Check-in

  • What energized me today? 

  • What drained me today? 

  • What am I proud of? 

  • What do I hope to accomplish tomorrow? 


See? That was not so bad, and hopefully you are feeling better than from when you started reading this.


Processing these thoughts and truths can be tough, but that is what community is for. No one needs to struggle alone, so we encourage getting together to process and reflect with those around us, especially as students.
